La voie universitaire : l'étudiant suit un stage professionnel (rémunéré) de 2 ans en office notarial ainsi qu'une formation dans un CFPN (centre de formation professionnelle notariale) et dans une université habilitée à délivrer le diplôme supérieur du notariat (DSN).
Pour tous, l'exercice du métier passe par l'achat d'une charge.
